Position Overview

We're seeking an experienced Fiber Splicing Technician to join our team as a 1099 independent contractor. This opportunity is ideal for a skilled technician who owns their own equipment and wants to partner with a growing company focused on quality and reliability.

Required Equipment (Contractor-Provided)

• Bucket truck (in good working condition)

• Equipped fiber splicing trailer

• DWDM and CWDM OTDR testing equipment

• Fiber splicing machines (ribbon and single fiber capabilities)

• Personal protective equipment

• All necessary tools for fiber optic splicing and testing

Key Responsibilities

• Perform expert-level fiber optic splicing for ISP and telecommunications contracts

• Execute emergency repairs with quick response times

• Conduct fiber optic testing and certification using OTDR equipment

• Complete accurate documentation of all work performed in our field service management system

• Maintain equipment in excellent working condition

• Adhere to all safety protocols and industry standards

• Work independently with minimal supervision

• Be available for on-call rotations for emergency repairs

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of fiber optic splicing experience

• Demonstrated proficiency in fusion and mechanical splicing, testing, and troubleshooting

• In-depth knowledge of industry standards and best practices

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and on-call rotations

• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work from bucket trucks, ladders, and in confined spaces

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• Excellent communication skills

• Professional appearance and demeanor when representing ProBuilt Wiring Solutions

Contract Details

• 1099 Independent Contractor status

• Initial focus on fiber/coaxial splicing and emergency repairs

• Background check required

• Current liability insurance required

• Workers’ Compensation/Occupational Accident Insurance required
